This is a hack, but a fairly elegant hack. If you change pitches and need to rerun the plugin, be sure you move the white notes to the same location, and you can rerun the plugin to change the note names. It will not run if you put in notes with any voice other that 1 or 3. Note that the notes you see will be in voice 3 and there will be white notes in voice 1. Once the House style and plugin are installed, run it like you ran the old plugin (after restarting Sibelius). You can delete foo.lib if you created it. If you can find your user Plugins folder, go up one level to the Sibelius 5 level, then go to the House Styles folder. Sib will create the folder for it to go into. If you do not have this folder, the easiest way to make one is to open a score, and use House Styles > Export House Style. This needs to go into your user House Styles folder.

When you install this plugin you also need to install a House Style file (Opus Note Names No Leger.lib). (The first screenshot shows how the original plugin works and the second screenshot shows Add Note Name to Noteheads White).

The Add Note Name to Noteheads White plugin does this, and it works pretty well. Mark Johnson suggested at one point putting white stemless notes behind the named noteheads so that the white notes would block out the lines. There is a problem that the staff lines and leger lines run through the notehead names (The white parts of these special notes are actually transparent, not white, and anything beneath them will show through).
